You can’t imagine when you see a brand new cast iron chiminea all nicely painted and pretty that it will ever look any different.
How wrong you would be. Cast iron will rust when exposed to rain and this will be more severe if you live near the coast as sea water loves rusting iron.
The paint will also start to flake off once it gets hot and you’ve used it a few times.
The solution? Get a cover for your cast iron chiminea to protect if from the worst of the rain.
And paint it using heat proof paint. Fire proof paint doesn’t exist unfortunately so give it a lick of heat proof paint every now and again to keep it looking in tip top shape.
